Interim Board Update - 9 May 21

Updated: 5 days ago

This past week, we were able to begin moving Phase II (the Greens) residents into their lots. As of today, we have 37 units settled in. Thank you to Resort staff and all the volunteers who gave their time and expertise to assist residents as they moved into their lots. Even though the power has not been activated, and the weather not great, the smiles and energy are amazing. Welcome home! We have come along way as a Society, and we need to celebrate all of our accomplishments.

We are proud to share Oasis Grove Society’s Mission, Vision, Value statement:

Mission

At Oasis Grove R.V & Golf Resort Society, our mission is to have a Home Away from Home that is a self-sustaining, member owned recreation resort that is safe and secure for you and your family to enjoy, filled with family friendly amenities for all ages.

Vision

O - Opportunity to meet new friends and make memories

A - Amenities for all ages that continually evolves to meet the needs of its members

S - Self Sustaining not for profit resort with financially viable goals that supports eco-friendly options

I - Inclusive, respectful and relaxing environment for all

S - Safe, Secure & Supporting, where our community comes together

Values

Community - You learn the true meaning of community while at Oasis Grove. You will feel connected to and supported by others. The Oasis Grove family is one that is founded on trust, safety and accountability.

Respect – At Oasis Grove we show respect to one another through understanding, inclusion and acceptance.

Fun - Enthusiasm and a positive attitude at Oasis Grove help create an environment of fun. Golfing, social events, campfires and gathering with friends bring with it smiles and laughter.

Contribution - we contribute by working together to make Oasis Grove a self-sustaining operation. We contribute to Oasis Grove through volunteerism, donations, participation and ensuring our actions support sustainability.

As is widely known, we are highly reliant on volunteers whom generously giving their time to support the operations of the resort. What is less known is the behind-the-scenes administrative effort for all resort activities - it is significant. Staying true to our mission to ensure Oasis Grove is self-sustaining, we have taken a long-term view that we may not always be able to rely on volunteers to do this work and have incorporated two fee clauses into the Oasis Grove lease agreement. These clauses will come into effect for those signing leases through a private or new lot sales beginning July 1, 2021. These clauses introduce the following:

1. Membership transfer fee - $2,000 + GST. This is a one-time fee to offset some of the administrative cost of a sale, eg. processing the paperwork and setting up new members for payments. This will apply on sale of lots where a membership fee has previously been purchased by the seller.

2. Annual reserve contribution fee - $300 + GST. This fee will be paid annually and introduces a continuous revenue source for future investment.

Remember this only applies to new Lease Holders.

Call for volunteers: We are looking to enhance our Oasis Grove Golf Committee. We realize this is an exceptionally large part of our resort and is a huge commitment. We are looking to add people to the committee to help carry forward the work required to keep our golf course going. If you are committed to this work, please submit your name, email and a contact number; as well, please provide a couple of sentences sharing your skills and why you are interested in serving on this committee. Please email your information to Heather @ khmhanson@gmail.com by Friday, May 14th. Thank you.

If you are looking to sell your lot or rent it for the season, or if you have anyone interested in becoming part of the OGS family, please send Janice an email: janicesoasis@gmail.com . As well, if you have rented your lot for the year, for safety/emergency purposes and to ensure all our residents are well informed, please pass on their contact information to Janice. We are continually improving our website and want everyone to have access to resort announcements and events, store items, newsletters, etc. Thank you for your assistance in keeping everyone informed.
